2 questions that stop people shouting

LET’S TAlK About shouting!!!!

Not what you expected was it?

I don't often shout. But I do sometimes.

I shout:

  1. To be heard over the noise (chatter, drills, engines)

  2. If I think you can’t hear me (technical issues your end)

  3. When I don’t FEEL heard

Number 3 hurts, frustrates me and can escalate to ANGER!

Can you relate?

TRY THIS...

If you spot someone raising their voice (you included!)

Ask these 2 questions

Question 1 - Is it a technical issue?

If so, fix it and carry on.

If not…

Question 2 - Do they not feel heard?

That’s a bit harder to fix as it could be for many reasons, including what you’re doing!

This issue often comes up in my workshops, and is fixable. If it’s happening to you, get in touch and I’ll make some suggestions.

SOMETHING TO PONDER...

“Never raise your voice. Improve your argument.”
Desmond Tutu

If never is aspirational, start by finding out when, why and where and you’ll improve your chances of success.

SOMETHING FOR LATER...

And if you need to let off steam, watch how this dog does it (1 minute 21 secs) and laugh the tension away instead

I’m on the end of an email if you need me.
