Want to Make More Progress?
TRY THIS...
Creating positive relationships isn’t a random activity.
As with other areas of your life, you need to make sure you are investing in the right people in the right way. I borrowed the famous Eisenhower's Decision Matrix and gave it a few tweaks to help you do that.
Click though below to get the full details of what to put in each box. Try loading some names into this matrix and see where people pop up, and whether you are currently allocating your time and energy in a way that serves you and your relationships.
SOMETHING TO PONDER...
There are lots of reasons it can be hard to progress with building more positive relationships.
Let me explain with a story about my feet!
I'm a barefoot enthusiast. That means if I can wear no shoes at all I will, and if I need to wear shoes I wear flat, flexible, wide toe box shoes that get as close as possible to nothing. It's the total opposite of the traditional solid, pointed, heels I used to wear to work. Although I knew for ages that heels weren't for me, it took me ages to make barefoot my way of life.
Why did it take time?
1️⃣ Context - No one else (or so I thought) was doing it, and it's hard to go against the norm when there are limited role models. I had to actively look for new advice, try out things when I wasn’t sure how they were meant to feel and that took trial and error.
2️⃣ Cost - Things come at a cost. Tempting as it was, I couldn't just chuck out everything at once and have no shoes!
3️⃣ Confidence - Making what felt like an identify change felt awkward and clunky. It took time to grow into my new identity and I had to build up foot strength to be confident to step out in this new way.
Now let’s apply that to your relationships
Is it time you found some better role models and took different advice on how you are handling things?
Are you shying away from investing time and energy? Could you start with smaller tweaks to ease the size of the investment?
Are you telling yourself that a new approach isn’t for you because it didn’t work first time or feels a bit unfamiliar of clunky
SOMETHING FOR LATER...
I have been working on building an Inner Circle archive on my website and it’s ready!
If you’ve only just joined the Inner Circle, or been here a while and want to revisit some past editions, you can now do that with just the click of a button, it’s really that simple.
Or, why not send it to a friend and see what they think?
