Do you have a relationship growth mindset?

The beliefs and assumptions that we have around our working relationships can have a significant impact on how we go about maintaining and improving them (or not!)
Which of these items do you agree with?
1. Some people are simply better at relationships than others.
2. Relationships that are meant to be just work.
3. Disagreements can deepen your relationships.
4. If the relationship is hard work, it isn’t meant to be.
5. All relationships take effort.
6. When my feelings get hurt, I question if there is something wrong with one of us.
7. When I upset someone, it is an opportunity to learn.
8. People can change if they try.
If you have a growth mindset you take the view that what you need to know is HOW to do it, because it must be possible… if you do not have a growth mindset you may be asking yourself if it is even possible or assuming it probably isn’t.
For the questions above, which I have extracted from my book - People in Their Element, items 3, 5, 7 and 8 are growth mindset statements, so you score a point for agreeing with any of these. Statements 1, 2, 4 and 6 are fixed mindset statements, so you deduct a point for agreeing with each of those statements.
How did you do? Is that holding you back in some way?

How well do you really know what you believe? Try finishing these sentences 10 times each and see what comes out... if you get to 6 and get stuck, keep going, the magic often only happens after the obvious stuff is out of the way… so 10 or even 11 may be the real winner!!
